Significant strides have been made in child forensic interviewing in the last 3 decades, based on an impressive body of ongoing research. There is now widespread agreement about basic principles, components and techniques of best practice interviewing. This workshop will provide an overview of emerging issues in the field, including: the importance of, and best way to conduct, narrative event practice, the efficacy of interview instructions, whether we should re-think guidance about multiple interviews, the applicability of popular ‘trauma-informed’ interview approaches being used in adult interviews, effective forensic interview training methods and promising practices that may help overcome a child’s reluctance.
