C-06 - Dynamics of Child Abuse and Neglect from a Child Welfare and Medical Perspective (Part II of II) IntermediateMedical/Forensic Interviewing Law Enforcement Legal Child Abuse (Physical/Sexual)
Examining the dynamics of child abuse and neglect from a medical and child welfare perspective to include discussion around sentinel injuries, common and concerning physical injuries, fractures, falls, burns, sexual abuse, neglect, and medical child abuse. This course will also look at the Children’s Administration’s approach to these cases related to consultation with community professionals and assessment of child safety and risk.
1. Develop a better understanding of the dynamics of child abuse and neglect from a medical perspective.
2. Recognize sentinel injuries and distinguish between common and concerning injuries in children.
3. Develop a better understanding of Children’s Administrations response as it relates to assessment of child safety and risk.
