C-08 - Extended Foster Care IntermediateChild Welfare
The Extended Foster Care (EFC) Program is a voluntary program established to support eligible youth between the ages of 18 and 21 in a successful transition to adulthood through continued foster care placement and services.
This workshop will discuss the history of the population served and the legislation, including the RCW and WAC which defines the parameters and eligibility criteria. There will be discussions on policy and practice governing the program for the young adults, the available services and placement options. The workshop will address the challenges and barriers for the young adults, case managers and community partners. There will be data provided on the population being served along with the cultural factors.
