C-09 - Immigration issues for Children: Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and Vulnerable Youth Guardianships
The training will discuss screening immigrant children for abuse, abandonment and neglect by their parents. In many countries, child abuse is commonplace, children are forced to work at a young age (under threat of abuse) and sex abuse is not investigated or prosecuted by authorities. Assessing how cultural issues deal with family problems is also important. These issues must be taken into account when screening children.
