D-13 - The 3-5-7 Model: A Guided Approach Towards Readiness for Permanency Relationships

The 3-5-7 Model® is an established evidence-informed practice to assure that young people living in temporary care placements, away from birth family members, are in readiness for decisions of permanency relationships towards reunification, adoption, or guardianship. Regardless of time in care, these young people have experienced numerous unresolved losses due to early childhood traumas and subsequent systemic placements. Their resultant expressed behaviors, indicating their hurt and pain, are grounded in traumas of loss, abuse and neglect. A guided directional approach, this model supports their work for relationships not just placements. Tools are introduced to reflect growth of this readiness process.
