This presentation will discuss: 1) how we must understand the realities of immigrant and refugee African women concerning violence and abuse within the United States, 2) what tend to be African traditions that influence how women are perceived and treated, 3) what men are taught to believe about their roles, rights and behaviors that allow violence, 4) what needs to occur to confront African male traditions, behavior, beliefs and actions including Christian and Islamic faith, from work by IDVAAC and Dr. Oliver Williams.
